Broadening The Impact of NRCEN / Internal Collaboration to Enhance External Engagement

Hosted by the NSF Center for the Science and Engineering of Materials (CSEM) and Caltech Educational Outreach (CITEO

NRCEN 2005 participants propose to create an infrastructure that will serve as a communication platform for education and outreach (E&O) personnel across all NSF Centers and across all disciplines. We propose to use this infrastructure as a mechanism to ensure that current and future outreach professionals will have the support they need to more effectively reach broad and diverse audiences.

Expected tangible outcomes from this conference are:

• Increased professionalism among E&O personnel in Centers

• Better communication among E&O personnel

• Minimized duplication of effort

• Stronger and more frequent partnerships across disciplines

• Increased ability to attract supplemental funding from other sources
